Treatments for Vaginal Rejuvination or Vaginal Laxity
Vaginal laxity or a loose vagina can lead to a
multitude of problems. Vaginal laxity is usually underreported. Women may feel reluctant to speak to their doctor
about looseness in their vagina. But if the situation is affecting their sexual
health, it is important to start the conversation. A gynecologist can help a
woman decide which treatment path is right for her.

Exercises
Various types of exercises are there which may help in vaginal tightening. A most common form of exercise advocated are Pelvic Floor Training and Kegels exercises. It is of utmost importance to visit a gynecologist and learn the proper method of exercises for them to be effective. Exercises are helpful but to a limited extent. Usually, along with exercises, other treatment modalities are required.
Medical
Some problems like urinary problems arising due to a lax vagina can be treated with medical treatment. Few gels and creams are available which may help in vaginal tightening. These should only be bought from a certified doctor as over the counter medicines can sometimes cause vaginal infections, discharges, and vaginal ulcers/burns.
Surgery
Surgical Vaginoplasty has a high success rate and patient satisfaction scores. Surgical vaginoplasty is a surgery performed on the vagina to tighten the introitus (vaginal opening). It can be done as a daycare procedure but after discharge from a hospital, healing requires 1-2 weeks. Return to sexual activity may take 2 weeks. So the operation should be planned accordingly.
Non-Surgical (Laser or Radiofrequency)
Some women plan to have more children or don't
want to have surgery, and they may want to consider nonsurgical options that use
laser or radiofrequency ("RF") energy.
Both laser and RF heat up the tissues,
resulting in increased collagen formation which results in vaginal tightening.
The laser gently and painlessly acts on the vaginal tissues to create extremely
small microabrasions in vaginal tissues leading to collagen remodeling and
tissue regeneration.
Significant improvement can be seen after a
first laser sitting. The vaginal mucosa becomes thicker, toned and
elastic. The vaginal lubrication improves resulting in less vaginal infections.
Side effects of Lasers are infrequent.
Transient and mild redness and stinging may occur in the vagina for a few hours which
settle over time.
